Flight training in Experimental Aircraft

    I think you cannot give primary flight training in experimental aircraft. Definitely not for hire. But you can give transition training in experimental aircraft and you can do it for hire. Presumably for builders who want to learn to fly their own aircraft.

    There may be a loophole for people who are building/ contributed to he building of an aircraft.

    Before you sign up students who hope to end up learnign to fly in the airplane, you should find out exactly how this could work.

  2. I did a fair bit of research about this, including a call to the EAA. The regulations do not specify primary flight training. The issue is the 'for compensation or hire'. Transition training happens via a FAA waiver from this regulation. Primary flight instruction can be given in the experimental aircraft if the funding for the aircraft comes from elsewhere. For example the Build to Fly project could offer the plane for free (or for 'build time credits') but charge for the flight instruction.
